Adika is a charitable organization based in The Rep. Dem. of Congo.
Organization name : Association pour le Développement Intégral de Kavumu (ADIKA, asbl)
Purpose of the organization : Our main purpose is to contribute to the development of the area especially in helping children from poor family to access to studies, to promote their integral development and to show to people the interest to keep their water and the sanitation.
Date of origin : We began our association slowly from the year 1994 with week actions of course.
Creating this institution we wanted to promote Kavumu poor population. No far from that period, only some children had access to education in the area, we emphasis the children of rich persons. Also, some children living in the street were abandoned by the state, by all persons. But, now some children from poor parents have studied and the process is continuing. We are employing about twenty five persons now for this issue. We are also thinking to install the same kind of work around Goma city where are living very poor people living in bad houses. Our budget is essentially coming from contribution of some parents and some other activities generating of income.
Our team is composed of twenty five persons working for the improvement of the school essentially.

Main needs :Our school is populated by Five Hundred Fifty Eight students. Among them, almost 250 children come from very poor families and are not able to pay something for helping to pay teacher’s salaries. So, we are obliged to look for some where charity persons or organizations to supply the salary’s envelope. We may also emphasize that some are suffering of malnutrition and they are feeded by porridge during the day. Here come their most need during one scholar year :

Our main funding comes from some parents. Meanwhile, we need sometimes help coming from outside. Our requests for help are addressed to some caritative organizations such as Caritas, UNICEF, etc. Also, we sometimes get some small helps as contribution from some persons. Those helps include essentially scholar materials as chalks, books, copybooks, etc. Please let us insert also small income coming from small activities.

Yes we have some plans for sustainability. The most one is the tile making for housing since people are using iron sheets which are not very strong. The sites are available and materials for making them can be found easily. We are also expecting to develop most activities at the school to generate income because we should improve each year our functioning system.
