EDTEC was started as a development response project of the Community Initiatives and Social Support Organization (CISSO) a not-for-profit, community-based, non-political/religious, youth-led organization.
EDTEC’s visions is to impact the lives of children between the age of 3-10 through provision of quality and well-rounded education that caters for holistic development of the child at the formative stages of life. EdTEC Academy will expand and incorporate upper primary classes after the first three years of operation,
CISSO’s vision is to identify with and work along the economically and socially deprived, starting with children, so that they become educated, skilled and aware; and enable them to be self-reliant and enjoy a healthy, dignified and sustainable quality of life and to that end, act as a resource to and collaborate with other agencies-governmental or nongovernmental, as well as suitably intervene in policy formulation for holistic development.
EdTEC Academy relies on the support of volunteer teachers and workers for the first three years (2011-2013). EdTEC CISSO is located in Mbita, a sub-urban area in a rural setting near Kisumu City Mbita, not far from the Lake Victoria.
EdTEC is designed to host a total of 100 pupils needing help in one year of operations.
